Fashion Tip #23 of the Week...

We have all seen in the trends, the skin tight skinny jean. Well why don't you add some vibrant color to it. Next time instead of purchasing the typical jean color, blue, washed out blue, white, gray, or black. Get a sky blue, red, green, or even orange skinny jean. No you don't have to rock the T-shirt vibe. You can add a more untrendy soft silk shirt or even a casual blouse. It will add that funky twist to an already superstar look. This Starrfly recently added a vintage creme blouse over some red skinny jeans. Baby, the vibe was so next season that it brought the boys to yard and compliments from the ladies as well. So step it up and step out. I guarantee you will be the brightest star wherever you go in this outfit. Can I get your autograph!
Here's some visusals....

Some inspiring words from an unlikely source...

All these years I have been on the opposite side of the style game. I was always the eccentric, weird, sometimes crazy chick. I think I was always just far in front the fashion game. Anyways, I had once tried to fit in, but ended up hatin the vibe. So I made the decision to be me at whatevera the cost.
Well lately I have been concentrating on really getting out there and doing it. Whatevera that creative venture is. I don't share this with people outside of my supporting peeps. ( ya'll know we got haters out there) Well unexpectedly while at work, I had a woman I work with come up to me and say she had a dream about me. That is all I needed to hear...I wanted all the details. She went on to tell me she dreamt of an unexpected meeting with me. My mouth dropped with what came next. She continues...." I was talking to someone we work with about you and you pulled up in an SUV..." (Honey I have been on getting a Tahoe for a year now) " You looked so good and you told me you had left the job and was designing. You were sharp and looked well-off..." Mind you, I had never really had a conversation with this woman about my big plan to step out into fashion world. But so much was on point that I began to internalize the idea that maybe Jah was sending me a sign. I am a strong believer in dreams and I believe also that Jah uses others to speak to you. I have been so touched by what she said , that I know now, I am headed in the right direction. So JahStarrfly will be coming soon because Im living out my dreams.I going right into the future. So dream away Starrflys and Give thanks. Cause a dream that you wish might be right up your alley.

The Heart of Stylist....

Damnit I'm so ready to get from out my current situation and into a more positive and creative position. I am an unapologetic shopper and Im ready to put my fashion skill to work

Night Out....Getting my Ms. Campbell walk on...with out all the expense

If you haven't heard, this Starrfly busting out her fashion cacoon...So a night out with the girls happen to be long over due. But this is more a quick lesson on fabolous fashion under $50 bucks. Yes I said $50. You can find great club outfits at places like Forever 21 and Wet Seal with out having to tap into your bill money. Example I paid $15 for the dress at Forever 21 and the shoes believe it or not came from a local nine dollar shoe shoe. Now these nine dollar shoe stores can be tricky but you got to look for the best quality in the style you like. Dont buy the shoes that look cheaply made even if you only paying twenty dollars. The sercret is buy it and rock it like it cost a million bucks. The shiny silver pocketbook was a thrift store find for a few dollars, I think under five. Put it all toghether and Shit this party night, I not only got invited up to vip but turned heads all night. Also this Starrfly still had money in her pocketbook at the end of the night and I dont know bout you but that made my night. Party on...

I wanna be an Afro-Punk.....

I can tell you my fashion style has never fit one trend or one style...hey go figure. I am a Starrfly! and I live outside the box. I wear my clothes on how I wake up in morning. Somedays I am very open and on my high fashion shit. Other days Im just trying to fall back out of the public view. Well today and for the past couple days...I am on Afro-Punk vibe. I even got my daughter on the style train. Check it out.` Plaid shirts, english hats, tie-dye, multiple chains, and laid back rasta caps. These are just a few things that added to my Afro-Punk style. But on the real this style can be accomplish with any and everything. Afro-Punk is a vibe...rebellion of the Punk Rockers and the Afro swagger which is the freedom of Black fashion in the seventies. So Can u dig it Starrflys...Rock on!

Yeah sooo what I LOVE shoes...who doesnt!

Found some amazing shoes...that I just recently purchased...Check them out. The come from Dollhouse. So comfrontable and just high enough for you feel like a super model. Yeah honeychild a must have for any Starrfly.

I got the Passion....

Well this skirt was made almost a year ago...it took all but two hours. I love designing and making new outfits. I am now at the point where I either need to put out..some raw shit..or shut up and stay in my current position. Which is: watch all these other creative beings doing what I love which is sewing, painting, styling, and all things design. Shit.. I think this skirt was well a testiment to what I can do and with a little more effort what is to come. Watch your backs designers...Jah Starrfly is coming...lol

The flyest purse for a Baglady...

I am always looking for the hottest fashion accessories because really simple additions to an outfit can make it soooo super fly. So me being the Starfly I am did a little web surfing and found a great carry all from Freepeople. It is tie-dye and huge, which just so happened to be the in thing. Damn. But I still got to get it. It is only under $100 and well worth every penny. It is mine next check!

Fueling the fire...

I haven't really been keeping up my blog....but I was so inspiried today. And even if Im the only one who read this, who cares it all me. Well been checking out some other exciting and interesting blogs. To name a few Gorgeous Black women, Mitzi Blog ( whom I've followed since her days at Honey Mag.) and In her shoes. All sisters with interesting perceptions on life, love, and fashion. Ok here I go. Well one thing that has burned a whole thru my head today is this sistren with these beautiful full unconventional locs. I wondered about the preconcieved ideas on how locs are supose to look and feel and such. Nowadays with more sisters leaving the chemicals alone and going au natural, why do sisters still feel the need to please the european ideas on how our hair needs to look. So many sisters with locs are rocking the style but over twists, over style, even perm edges...just to fit the society views on apporiate. I am constantly approached on how to neaten up my locs and retwist my beautiful new growth. I thought when I choose this hair style, I was also chosing the freedom to do it however I felt. I realize that in everything we do from our clothes, our swag, our hair styles, are still held responsible to society views on it...so I say fuck it. You can't stand my choices then sit down some where and evaulate your own and watch my locs from the back as I walk away...free to be me.
